Banyule identifies a small number of properties that rely on onsite wastewater systems. Confirm the actual address and proposed use rather than relying on a suburb name or a previous owner’s information.
Yarra Valley Water states that the Lower Plenty sewerage project is completed and ready to use. This does not mean every property is already connected. Obtain property-specific advice about availability and any connection requirements.
Ask Health Services which information is required
Explain whether the proposal involves a new system, an alteration or a change to the dwelling or use. Provide current plans and any existing approvals, and ask council to confirm whether an LCA is required.
Confirm the LCA requirement for the property and proposed works with council’s Health Services Unit, together with any applicable planning requirements.
Retrieve existing wastewater records early
Existing system plans, permits and servicing information can help establish the current arrangement. Banyule’s records process requires owner authorisation where another person, including a prospective purchaser, requests the information.
