Yarra Geotechnics Pty Ltd (ABN 25 675 840 810) provides geotechnical investigations, assessments and engineering advice.

We generally collect information directly from you through our website forms, email, telephone conversations and project work. We also receive relevant information from authorised project representatives and public property or planning records.

Please provide only information relevant to your enquiry or project. If documents contain another person’s personal information, please ensure you are authorised to share it.

If you choose not to provide information needed to assess your enquiry, we may be unable to prepare a quotation or provide the requested service.

How we use information

Storage and overseas processing

We hold information in our business systems, including email, website enquiry records and document storage. Enquiry details and uploaded documents are transferred to Dropbox for internal handling. Copies also remain in our website enquiry system. Internal email notifications contain enquiry details and links to documents, rather than attaching the uploaded files.

Our website is hosted by Kinsta, which uses Cloudflare for security and performance. Our business email is received through Microsoft services. These providers and Dropbox may store or process information outside Australia. Dropbox identifies the United States and other international locations; Kinsta identifies the United States for access-log processing and uses international infrastructure.

Cookies and third-party website services

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for website functions and security. Hosting providers also process technical information and access logs to operate and protect the website. Our enquiry form includes an automated spam check.

The address lookup uses Google Maps Platform. Address text you enter and technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, are sent to Google to provide suggestions. Google also supplies associated website resources. See the Google Privacy policy.

Google Analytics and advertising pixels are not currently enabled. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect website functionality.

Where comments are enabled, we collect the comment, name, email address, IP address and browser information. Your comment and display name may be published. A hash of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to display a profile picture, under Automattic’s Privacy policy.

Links to external websites lead to services with their own privacy policies.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against misuse, loss and unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. Access is restricted according to business needs.

We retain information for the purposes described in this policy, including relevant project, professional, legal, contractual and insurance requirements. Retention periods depend on the type of record and the reason it is held.

Requests to delete information are considered alongside these requirements. Backup copies may remain for the applicable backup retention period.

Access and correction

You can contact us to request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. You can also ask us to delete information that is no longer needed.

We may need to verify your identity before responding. Some records must be retained, and legal restrictions may apply to access or deletion. We will explain any relevant limitations when responding to your request.
